A stern man's voice bellows the very moment play is hit, and after a few blinks, the feed shows a very confusing and grim scene indeed.
In the distance a child is squalling -- shrieking, howling, really -- on the ground and flailing in the arms of a woman desperately trying to hold him still while a man is trying to get a hold of a blackened, broken arm.
As the old man hollers his command over the screaming, a younger man is clutching his head in abject turmoil, black smears oozing from his palms against the side of his face, rocking in place as if he means to flee, but is rooted by the gaze of the man who spoke.
"Do not look away, Bruce," he repeats, and the young man stills, gulping loudly and slowly turning around.
"You do not get to walk away from the price of impatience." The old man turns and looks toward the scene. "The price of ARROGANCE."
"Grandfather, I, I lost my head, I'm sorry, I--"
"REPENTANCE is not in words, son. You will not atone for this by groveling to me...or even to the Lumas! For the Lumas are the real victims here. HUMANITY are the real victims here!"
The man moves, putting a hand on Bruce's slouched back, his own head still held high, his voice raised for all the frightened onlookers to hear.
"One less hale and whole Darkov is one less chance for the survival of mankind! That is one less reason for any of us to BE. Hear me! Don't forget why it is that we EXIST! And why our petty fights amongst ourselves means so LITTLE in the scope of things.
"We are so few. Our quarry so many. We will ALL of us die, should our unity crumble."
The man's head turns, looking about the shaken group, before inevitably falling on the eyes of the viewer. Save for the boy's screaming, there is no other sound to be heard, not even the breath of the viewer.
"Do not forget this. All of you. For it is all that matters, in the end."
[Reno couldn't be any more wrong about Guzma, and Gladion'd taken some minor offense due to him respecting the man.]
He's someone that's not to be taken lightly. He's a hothead but he can pack a punch and do damage. Honestly it's something I wonder about myself but he's helped me get stronger since I've failed to protect my sister... more than I'd want to admit.
[He reluctantly admits that, not terribly fond of admitting he's not strong enough yet, and especially here he's weaker than he wants to be. Those heartless made that clear.]
MEMSHARE VIDYA gomen I could not type up another long thing lol
[Like so many others, another wild anonymous video appears! This one depicting probably a few familiar faces, though the view is from a small child. While Sun was 6 years old when this took place, his voice should still be recognizable. Wonder who that powerful man who disappeared from Aether is!]
the kind that can get you knocked to the ground unconscious in a single hit. Never saw it, but overheard one of the lower members talking about it. Guzma's idea of "fixing" things is smashing them, and his temper shows in his dented chair back home.
that's a shame. a little fire will get you far, but you gotta learn how to control it. just knocking shit around isn't gonna earn you respect outside of the small-time. maybe if he concentrated that energy into something more explosive, y'know? use scare tactics for a purpose. get results. command the control you want. then he'd really be somebody for you to look up to.
His group of lower ranked idiots aren't taken seriously, but he's someone you shouldn't overlook or not take seriously. If you mean his temper? Doubt he ever would control it like that. But who knows?
I'm the Alolan Champion- you've tried to claim my title- that was a fun battle! Um, Lillie went with your mum to Kanto, I own a bunch of Ultra Beasts now, and you run Aether and gave me the Null from Secret Lab A to look after.
[She's the Champion? Well she was certainly a promising trainer from what he saw from where he was, but he'd never imagined she'd be the Champion!
But what shocks him even more is that he's running Aether, though that's what he was being raised to do, but taking over so soon is not what he'd expected to hear.]
Sounds like a lot happened after getting to Aether... Why are Mother and Lillie in Kanto?
[Sun's surprised when he gets Gladion's message. Not that he wasn't somewhat expecting to get one eventually about that battle he wanted, but this had no context whatsoever.]
[As Gladion is about to text back, he jumps when he's suddenly getting a voice call and answers it. Sun is met with an annoyed and confused Gladion when he answers.]
Fine fine, done. Care to tell me what that was all about? [a pause] Is that why you're so adamant about money from our world?
[Text is fine and dandy, but Sun wanted to glare into a camera to tell you to delete it!! Gotta show he's serious!]
Good!
[He huffs looking away from the screen and purposely trying to ignore the question asked. There's a noticeable jerk when the subject of money comes up though. That would be correct, Gladion!]
Erk— [A strained noise at the call out, his lips drawing up into a thin line as he debates answering. With a resigned sigh though he looks back to his phone.]
...Yeah. You watched it, didn't you? You should know then. He took my great-grandpa's island and I'm gonna get it back!
[There was only one time he'd dealt with Faba so far, there was no mistaking what memory of his Gladion had happened to see.]
I... I don't remember. I was... I was thrown into a battle right after and then Nebby was there and... the nihilego released her.
[She remembers every detail of that encounter, but she can't bring herself to actually tell him in any great detail outside that. It's selfish, to not want to relive what she's trying to Forget, but she can't.
[He's keen enough to be able to tell that there's more to what Mizuki's saying, but he has enough tact not to press that. Whatever happened must have been terrible, even going by his own knowledge of his mother's obsessions.]
Mother really lost herself... But... [he sighs, almost arguing with himself internally whether or not to say more, but inhales and lets another breath out.] Thank you for being there with her. Was Lillie kept safe from Nihilego?
Video: time is fake; back when tupp got news gladion is the enforcer
[News that Guzma had not only invited some seemingly random imPort to join Team Skull, but also appointed them to the position did not sit well with Tupp. Not that he had shared this with any of them when Gladion had been brought back to the Shady Factory. No, instead he let his frustrations stew and choosing to glare at the kid if and when he ever saw him about.
Tupp tried. He tried so hard to keep it to himself, after all he had been trying to earn the Boss's favor for so long now. He was offered the enforcer position as well, he just hadn't proven himself worthy of taking it. He didn't need to go and cock it up by starting stuff when Guzma was around.
So it's about a week or two later when Gladion gets this video. Tupp's anger and jealously couldn't be held back any longer, sorry Gladion.]
YO!! I dunno who the hell ya think you are, but just cuz the Boss seems to favor ya ain't mean yer actually one of us! And ya sure as hell ain't no enforcer neither!
